Got in my Stinger:
Nope, not the anti-aircraft missile launcher, but something a little bit more concealable. This is the Bond Arms Stinger RS derringer and its chambered in .38 Special +P. I bought this as a backup gun and to use when driving (more on that later).
One big criticism leveled at the Bond Arms guns isn’t their quality (which is excellent) but the sheer weight and bulk of their earlier classics such as the Snake Slayer and Texas Defender. Well in the past couple years Gordon and crew have been hard at work fixing those complaints:
On the left is the new Stinger and on the right is one of their older .45 Colt/.410 guns. You can clearly see the Stinger is about half the width and it’s considerably lighter, too.
Another complaint was the stiff triggers and hammers. Well, they’ve fixed that too. The hammer is now nice and smooth to cock and the trigger... boy it’s good. I don’t have my trigger scale with me but it can’t be more than 4 lbs and is crisp and clean.
Machining throughout is excellent and overall the feel in the hand is a nice improvement. It really does feel more comfortable and ergonomic than their bigger guns. The grips are thin allowing a great purchase without the “palming a golf ball” feel of the originals.
For carry, I got this Desantis made driving holster to carry crossdraw. This makes for an excellent anti-carjacking rig that is very easy to get to when seated and in a vehicle. For reloads, a Simply Rugged “Most Versatile Pouch” with a speed strip loaded with 4 rounds is very handy.
I’m a big fan of Bond Arms and they’re an excellent Texan company with extremely good customer service and all of their guns are made in America by Americans for Americans living in America.
Overall, super pleased so far. Stay tuned for a range report in the near future. It’s raining steadily here and is pretty chilly. Take care and happy New Years!
