Stippling

I have a good friend, that stippled my m&p. 45c on the back and front grip along with the mag release. All with a soldering iron. Looks great!

I did my Glock 27, 35 and M&P (just the front strap). I did have to sand down the tips with 200 grit sandpaper on all of them. If you are thinking about doing it, I would suggest practicing on an old Glock magazine or a Pmag.

definitely practice on something first before stippling your gun first. i stippled my medium backstrap last night using a soldering iron. pretty pleased with how it turned out. i didn't want a really aggressive feel so this is what i ended up with. i'm thinking about doing the front of the grip tonight.

I like mild stippling on some of the surfaces on some polymer guns.
I think some go to the extreme with it,though.

Bevo1,all yours look really nice.Just enough to be functional in aiding with gripping, and not extravagant.Good job, sir.

tharper,I like the pattern and texture on yours,as well.

Good question, chuck s. I would likle to try this on one of my, uh, more experienced weapons. It would be a great help to have some ideas of what to do or not do. Just a thought.

Is there a link on how to do this? Looks tedious.

It does take time. Patience is required for the type of results you see here. It doesn't really take a lot of time. I did the back and front straps on mine in about 90 minutes. Use a fan for ventilation as there are some fumes from the poly. Good luck. I also have a post here on stippling with a link to a video.

Yeah I agree, a video isn't gonna help really. I used the inside of a old Taurus case to get a feel for it.
Word of caution, some "plastics" melt easier and faster depending on the composition...so what might work on the case, might be alittle different on the hard polymer. Just take it easy and just touch it to the gun a couple times in a descrete area. And remeber you can go over a area more than once to change the look of the stippling, but do not go deeper, must melt the surface.
Here are a couple better resolution pics of my sigma....

I like that sigma you can't tell the difference in the where the factory grip was. It's blended very well.

That is an idea but some of those "stick ons" tend to fall off, and leave residue behind. And some rubber grips add unwanted thickness to the grip.

Thanks for the compliment....and I agree, i tried some stick on sandpaper, and its nowhere near the same as stippling. That's why some folks love the talons sandpaper, and others stippling. There is a difference.

Streakpi I like your style of stippling, might try it on one of my extra grips.

Do you want me to send you one in this style...I will make one today. Just let me know what size gun and grip. I've got at least one grip size except LG earth tone and MED compact. Drop me a note!

thanks man. ive done the front of the grip since that picture was taken. There has been a couple people that said my stippling job looks like it came from the factory that way. im pretty pleased with it.
