Will grips (stock set) for a modern K frame round butt fit on a Top Break .44 DA ? I've read that the grip area of the frame is almost identical in size and shape.

Someone asked just the opposite question a few days ago, same answer. Yes, except.
The stock pin hole is in a slightly, roughly 1/2 it's diameter, position. The pin hole will need to be filled and re-drilled in the proper position. You could also drill an oversize hole and fill it with any of the usual stock bedding materials, install carefully and let the bedding compound cure.
