What type of finish is applied to the modern Combat stocks?
I have a small spot that rubbed through the clear coati would like to touch up.

I think you need to be more specific. Brand, model, year, etc. A picture might help also.

O.K. I'll try. The stock is for a Model 14 full lug barrel revolver. The stock would be the standard "smooth wood combat grips".
The area that is rubbed is about half the size of a #2 pencil eraser.
I am considering applying a small amount of Tru-oil with my finger tip, etc.
I guess my question is, will Tru-oil harm the existing finish on the stock?

Just a follow up.
The Tru-oil DID NOT react adversely with the original Smith & Wesson finish.
A tiny dab on my finger, etc. and the stock looks fine.
