Stock pin

Should the stock pin in the bottom of the grip frame have the same amount showing on both sides of the frame? I have one that sticks out further on one side. Thought I should tap it to make the ends protude equally, but don't want to mess things up.

The pin should be evenly spaced but use caution when hitting this pin.
It is a rolled up piece of flat stock that forms a pin and it's hollow in the center - it is easy to mess it up and destroy the end.
The best way that I have found is to gently push the pin using the edge of a wooden workbench (table top).
Hold the grip frame with thumb and index finger on each corner and press until spacing is correct.
Tonking it with even a soft plastic gun mallet could damage it.

I have 'wacked' them with a hide mallet for at least 40 years and never hurt one.

Only more recently mfg. guns have the "roll pin". Older guns have solid pins. A light tap with a plastic or brass hammer will move them. I have a couple that will nearly fall out and can be moved by finger pressure.
