The gun now locks up as it should.
This gun came outa the Youkon so if it could talk i bet its got some good storys.
Its in B.C canada now so not to far south from its old stomping grounds LOL

Any idea what these are worth?
I hear the New book comeing out has higher values.
Not that id sell it but just curious is all.

Now thats some thing you don't see on the Forum every day!! Very cool, thanks for the pics.

Dinguss, You have to letter that gun and see where it was shipped - should be an interesting letter. I have an NM#3 Australian Colonial Police, with stock, that I have shot a few times. It's a different feeling shooting one of these. It is very accurate. A picture of mine is on page 186 (bottom gun) of Neal & Jinks, revised edition. It was fornerly in Bob Neal's collection, and it is cased in a nice walnut felt compartmented case with all accessories. Ed.

Hi well it is lettered but its that Standard letter that the gun was shipped to New york to that Robinson Dealer! you see on 98 % of them Jinks letters.
The stock cuts in the gun look properly done but could they have been added later?
The gun was up in the Youkon but was sent to New york by the S&W Factory.

I gave up on them Jinks letters for my other S&Ws as they almost ALL say the same thing. Really no info at all.

D

When you requested the letter, did you mention that the gun is set up
for a shoulder stock ? If you did, then presumably he would have checked
for that. If you didn't, then he may have assumed it was a standard gun.
He needs to know all the details.

Later, Mike Priwer

Dinguss, Mike is correct. Always send pics with your letter requests, if there is any thing unusual about a gun, such as cut for stock, etc. Is your stock serial numbered to the gun? In my experience, Roy Jinks will go the extra mile in searching the records, like looking for the invoice, etc., if you have an unusual feature on your gun and let him know about it. Granted, S&W shipped most of their guns to distributors and M.W,Robinson being a large S&W distribitor of NM#3s got the majority of the shipments, and sometimes that's all the info available. Ed.

OH OK sorry i didnt know that.

Honestly tho i dont know i bought the gun from a guy in B.C who already had the Jinks letter.
and im not sure if he mentioned about the stock.

The letter says the gun was nickled orignally!
and the stock has traces of nickle BUT no Ser #

Dinguss, most NM#3 stocks were not serialized. There are exceptions such as the Australian Colonial Police stocks. Now, find me a BLUED NM#3 (except the Revolving Rifle) in any caliber, and I'll be quiet for a while. Mike

Ok well thats all good info thanks eh!

I lived in Australia for 8 years in the 1970s and we hunted Roos for the skins.
That stocked S&W woulda been great for shooting Roos,
They frown on handguns down under now! There like England with there Liberal B.S Gun laws.

But back in the 1880s i bet they used them stocked S&W Revolvers to hunt Dingos
