My wife and I attended a first aid training that our concealed carry instructor offered. The EMT, who presented the class, covered how to use a tourniquet to stop arterial bleeding, treat gun shot wounds, and identify signs of shock. Class was only 2 hours and was very straight forward. The content was related to "Stop The Bleed" movement. I recommend this type of class to anyone.

My wife and I attended a similar 3 day seminar at Tactical Defense Institute in southern Ohio. Highly reccommend it.

Immediate trauma care

Proper training and a blowout kit are good "tools in the tool box". I just finished helping instruct a week long patrol rifle course for LE instructors, all of our instructor cadre carries blowout kits on their person, plus we have a full blown field hospital bag on site. We all have had immediate trauma treatment care training and years of remedial training. Plus, all of us are veteran first responders and have had our share of real life experiences. Prior to the range sessions, we have a " what if " briefing, outline our treatment procedures, evac procedures, designate evac vehicles, drivers, communicaters, etc.
Hopefully you will never need it, but the goal is to minimize the " Chinese fire drill" if you do. Self applied tourniquets, quick clot, battles dressings and chest seals are in all of our kits.
