No civil rights organization will advocate a perfect policy to suit everyone. But the point is, there must be a coordinated voice for like minded people.

Agreed. I hate the way the portray them selves (and gun owners) a lot of the time, but they are necessary to keep the hounds at bay.

If I didn't agree with the NRA policies, I wouldn't have joined up. I realize that not all of their policies may be to my liking, but enough of them are. Nothing is ever perfect.

It's impolite to ask somebody how they voted, but if you notice my NRA Life Member icon you can probably guess. 
If your requirement for an organization is that they be "perfect" before you join, you will never join any organization. Certainly no church or political party is "perfect". Please tell me about a "perfect" group because I can't wait to join them. I joined NRA as a lifer 50 years ago and have upgraded several times since. Of course I had a lot of money because I was a school teacher.
