Bought this gun from a Clevland OH gun store about 15 years ago for $1800. Got home and removed the grips for rust inspection. No rust but found twelve 1/4" blind holes drilled in the frame. Obviously, a previous owner decided to lighten the gun to his personal taste. Called the store and described the problem. He offered a full refund but I decided to keep the gun since it was in 99% condition including the case with tools.

On my lathe, I made 12 perfectly fitted brass plugs with 4-40NF threaded holes in each plug for ease of removal. Shot it a few times and it operated flawlessly. Sold it several years later for $2000. Thought I'd have a hard time selling it but it sold quickly. Serial No. 518.
