strange extractor rod in Model 14-3

Hi,
I bought S&W Model 14-3 and during first cleaning I found that the extracting rod is different from rods I have seen before. I cannot disassamble it any further than you can see on the photo. Is this normal for some type of extracting rods?

What production year is that mod.14? I never saw an ejector rod that didn't breakdown. Of course my experience is limited.

Its serial number is 1K97xxx, probably 1971.

There is a burr on the front end of the center pin. Push the center pin as far forward as you can, file any burring or any other enlargement, carefully, and it will come apart. Not common, but it happens.

What Alk8944 said. I recently purchased a model 13-3 with the same issue. A small burr was keeping the center pin from coming out. Removing the burr with a needle file did the trick.
