I've tried buffers in various platforms. Usually more harm than good, sometimes inducing malfunctions like short stroking slide or bolt.

Guns are not designed to use these gimmicks. They don't get beat up with normal ammo. High volume competition shooters usually load their own ammo that is relatively light but meets minimum power specs.

Sure, try it for <$10, but I wouldn't bother.

For my Shield 40 the Pachmayr sleeve grip is enough recoil buffer and improves my grip..

You didn't mention which M&P this was for, but if you're looking to reduce recoil on a full size you might want to consider this. Sprinco USA -- Recoil Reducers I've been tossing the idea of getting one of these around but haven't done it. (yet ;))

Hmmm, $8 vs $80? Well, I'd be more inclined to try the $8 one, but I think they are intended for different purposes. The buffer is intended to reduce shock to the frame and the rod is intended to help with felt recoil.

As far as I know, only Bill Wilson suggests shock buffers and guess who invented them?

I have tried them in my 1911 and in my Mini-14. They only caused problems in the 1911 and did nothing for the Mini. So, try it in your M&P tat2dchad and let us know how it goes. I don't think it can damage the gun, but neither do I expect a great improvement.

Take a look at the buffer and rate reducing group in a Browning Automatic Rifle, military, It really worked well and was a significant part of the 20LB weight.

Ill prob grab one next time I order something else for my( m&p40 ) gun. As long as worst case scenario is I waste $10. If/when I do, ill leave a review
