Hello, i wasn’t sure where to post this question but the Vortex StrikeFire II is mounted on my M&P 15... I really love this optic but there is something I noticed that doesn’t effect anything as far as function or accuracy but it’s annoying! In low light conditions I can see a diagonal gold colored band in the field of view around 10-5 o-clock. It appears to be a internal reflection off what I assume is the red/green dot light emitter located in the 1 o-clock position, it kinda bounces off the objective lens whether it’s powered on or not. I took it outside and could still see it but the reflection was much fainter. At first I thought it was a reflection of me in the scope but it’s not. It is really noticeable with the objective dust cover closed. I called Vortex optics and they were super nice and said I could send it in... I know these optics are designed for use with both eyes open and with both eyes open it’s still there but not as noticeable “only the red or green dot” I’ve read older post pre 2018 on other forums about what I’m experiencing. My question is “is this normal?” I hate to send it in only to get mine back or another with the same issue. Hoping some other StrikeFire owners can chime in. Thanks!!!

I see what you're talking about in my Strikefire II. Though it is only visible if I tilt the scope. If I hold the scope so that I'm looking straight through it, the band is not visible. My guess-it's from the coating on the lens and how light is refracted.

Looking straight through mine I see it, I may roll with it as it does vanish with both eyes open vs having the hassle of shipping and re-sighting. I found a few other topics on the issue doing a web search “StrikeFire Reflection Problem”. Seems some have it worse than others

refraction issue

I have 4 Strikefire IIs. 2 were bought about 2 years ago. 2 about 4 months ago. The newer ones do have a little refraction but it is not noticeable. The older ones have more. The refraction does not bother me. This great optic has so many advantages that I have not complained. i bought all 4 from a supplier where the turnover would be high. I assumed there was some improvement in manufacturing that explains the difference.
