I'm in need of a safety plunger and spring for my 1981 Model 39-2 and the usual sources are dried up. I'm open to ideas and if there are any other models out there using the same plunger and spring.

You've probably already checked to see if the plunger AND the spring are missing from your 39-2, but, if you have not removed the rear sight and looked already, you may find that only the spring is missing and not the plunger too.
When I got my 39-2, the previous owner removed only the spring to de-activate the mag safety. So I lucked out and only had to find a spring to set it back to factory.
