A couple of years ago I started watching Snooker matches on YouTube. It took a little time to learn the rules and regs and scoring of the game but since then it has become my favorite spectator sport. A big deal in the UK and other countries virtually unknown in the US. Ronnie O'Sullivan known as the (ROCKET) because of his fast play has won over 12 million pounds in his career and is a big favorite is my personal favorite as well. I enjoy Snooker immensely and think it could be big in the USA if more people got familiar with it. With me, it's one of those things where I lose track of time and hours seem like minutes. Fascinating game IMO.

When I was in college in the early 60's we always played Snooker
in preference to 8-Ball or Straight Pool.

I've wasted many an hour in the local pool hall watching what was high dollar to me snooker games. Some went on daily for weeks. Got a big laugh outta one of the local big sticks. He started taking side bets against his game, after drawing a crowd and taking all side bets for about a week. He turned from losing to couldn't be beat and absolutely mopped up for another entire week. Looking back, the old shark and the youngster he was playing were probably in cahoots

I think we're talking about two different games here. In Snooker there are 15 red balls and one each of yellow, brown, green, blue, pink and black. There are no numbers on the balls, each ball has it's own value in scoring. The fifteen reds are one point each yellow is 2 green 3 brown 4 blue 5 pink 6 and black 7. The red balls are left off the table when they are potted (pocketed) the colored balls are put back on the table in there appropriate positions after being potted. The table is typically 8ft.X 4ft. So are we talking the same or a different game?

That's fantastic, wish I had had that opportunity. Nine ball, eight ball and rotation ruled in NC. We did grow some world class players though.

My favorite game back in the day was double-check. Six players and one winner...... if you lost, cost you one bet, if the winner, you collected a bet from five players. If you drew two good pills you could win quickly without even taking a shot
