I wonder if a single-stack 9mm or .45 that is about the same size as the M&P .22 Compact is in the future?

Would love to have a couple of them.

My suggestion to S&W is to go after an open but growing niche that really only Glock is in currently. That would be a polymer frame double stack mag chambered in 10mm. Used the larger 45 sized M&P and build out a 5" to 6" 10mm. Many outdoorsmen are picking up Glock G20 and G40 models for outdoor carry. This would be a good thing for S&W to offer and give Glock some competition! Putting adjustable sites on it would be even better!

S&W just released the M&P Shield 380, you commented on it in "Revolver guy considering to buy the new M&P .380 Shield EZ".

It's almost exactly the same size as the M&P .22 Compact. The only fault it has is the .380 power. If Smith makes a 9mm version, I will buy it sight unseen. :D

How long is the barrel in the M&P 22 and/or 380 EZ? I would probably buy sight unseen a 9mm single stack version with a 4" barrel. Like the Springfield Armory XDS 4" - but actually American made. I know Kahr makes one, but I don't like Kahr.

I ironically suggested this in another thread. I'd like to see S&W just take the standard Shield 2.0 and create a new grip frame fitted to accept the P365 10 rd mag and call it the Shield X. They could price it at the same level as the standard Shield and sell the P365 compatible mags for ~$20, just to stick it to SIG and their tendency to over-price their mags.

Another gun I'd like to see would be a version of the 4" barreled M2.0 Compact that uses the short grip, 1.0 compact 12/10 rd mags. They could call it the M2.0 Compact(sg).

I don't know about the M&P22 but the 380EZ barrel is 3.675" according the published specs. Pistol overall is 6.7" long, 4.98 " high (longer and taller than the Shield).

I would like to see a 2.0 subcompact that is pretty much a Shield but with short double stack magazine holding 10 rounds. I carry IWB so a slimmer slide and frame would make such a gun easier to carry than my 2.0 compact even with the thick grip. Making the magazine compatible with larger M&Ps would make carrying a larger capacity spare magazine possible and avoid any patent problems from copying the Sig P365 magazine design. It wouldn't be quite as small as the 365 but would probably cost less and have reasonably priced magazines.

A 10 rder would be a 2 finger grip pistol which everyone would ruin by putting on an extended base plate. At least that's the impression I get from reading all these forums on the internet comparing these type glock with everyone else. Maybe if s&w included various mags in the box like walther does with their pps m2 (which IMHO is kind of silly).

That sure sounds like a 3.0 to me. :D

There are lots of people that chose to carry their Glock 26 with the 10 round magazine so it will be as short as possible.

With a gun designed for a 10 round magazine you have the option of using a 12 round magazine for more capacity at the cost of a longer and harder to conceal grip. With a 12 round gun you do not have the option of making the grip shorter.
