Warmer weather is upon us, what are your carry options for Summer weather?
I normally carry a 4" Model 64 .38 Special revolver, sometimes a 4" Model 66 .357, carried OWB in a Bianchi #5 holster, concealed by a long jacket or field shirt. In the Summer, a lighter more compact firearm is more comfortable, and can be concealed with less clothing.
Summer activities such as hiking or bicycling in hot, humid weather is less tiring if you lighten your load...
I picked up a Ruger LCR .357 revolver a while back, and found it very easy to carry in a deep pocket, fleece jacket or on the belt in a holster. Light weight, accurate, nice trigger and sights. Picked up a Bianchi "Venom" holster for it to carry OWB. I like a holster with retention, the Venom has a thumb break snap retention so I don't worry about the revolver dropping out of the holster while seated.
Not long ago, I found a good deal on a used Ruger LC9, one of the older models with the DAO trigger. This pistol also shoots good, more accuracy than you would expect, good sights and trigger. It is flatter than the LCR, easier to carry in a pocket (with a pocket holster). Seven rounds of 9MM versus 5 rounds .357, either one a good choice for self defense.
The Bianchi Venom holster worked so good with the LCR I got one for the LC9 as well, I think I paid $38 for the LCR holster, $48 for the LC9. One thing about LC9 holsters, they are hard to get right now as the LC9 is so popular. I got mine from Amazon.com with free shipping.
Both rigs can be concealed easily and confidently with a four pocket Guyaberra shirt (you do have to be 40 years or older to wear one!), Hawaiian shirt, long t-shirt, etc....
