Superman S&W faster than a speeding bullet

I watched a 1957 episode of Superman and the intro shows a smith 6 inch being fired. Just caught a glimpse and it looked like a pre27 and sure sounded like a magnum. Anybody know for sure what this model is?

I have a bigger question: why does he stand with his arms on his hips when he is fired at 6 times but ducks out of the way when the guy throws the empty gun at him?

Pretty sure it was an M&P .38 spl.
Earlier shows used a Colt.

The black and white ones used a 4" M&P. The later, color ones, used a Colt. Either a five or six inch. Looks to be a Police Positive.

six seconds in. Colt. Looks like a 6" Police Positive, unless whoever's holding it has a HUGE hand, but the Colt latch is quite obvious.

They should use a 500 S&W. Supe wouldn't know what hit him.

The M&P had a round front sight and the squiggle/Speed hammer. Made about 1948-55.

The Colt is a Police Positive Special with probably a five-inch barrel. I think it was made in the 1930's.

He duck because if the gun hit him on the head or any part of his body, being a "man of steel" and understand how valuable these revolvers are, will surely put a dent or damaged the gun in some way.

Thats the only reason I can think of, any other suggestions?
