Ive got a VTAC 9 with a tundra that won't cycle. I've also tried my Isis-2 on it with same issue. I'm using factory loads any brand or type will not cycle. Unsuppressed it shoots great. It's not the suppressor, the tundra works great on my p30 and two different brands of suppressor won't cycle on the m&p. I tried running Wolff reduced power recoil springs (10,12 and 14) with no help. I did at least get stove pipes with the 10 pound spring but it has a WAY loose lock up. Any ideas?

Here's the suppressor tested, none cycle on the m&p but work on my p30

Wow. S&W just told me "sorry guy"! I also called Gemtech and they said they have run into this ONLY on the VTAC M&P pistols. I thought the locking block was the same between the M&P and VTAC? Only the sear block was different? Anyway, as an HK guy this being my first M&P I'm getting a bit pissed. From the general lack of support to the fact a very simple set up should run. No one here on this site has not at least heard of this issue?

I can honestly say I have never read anything on here and do not deal with suppressors so I am of no help to you. I only wrote this to let you know someone was at least reading your posts and did try to search for info. Sorry I can't be of any assistance.

My experience with cans has been limited to the few .22 suppressors and hosts that I own. Seems like you've done what makes sense by changing springs.... However, Silencer Talk has a wealth of info that might help determine w*f is going on with your VTAC/Tundra. I'd be curious as to what you find out. That's a sweet looking set up you've got!

Yeah but I only have yahoo and gmail email avail accounts so I can't register....

I know it's getting hits, I'm just frustrated over this. Gtech and AAC both said to try and break it in unsuppressed for a 1000 rounds. That should loosen it up. I've got two issue with that, one is I only bought this as a dedicated suppressor host (I have no desire to shoot this weapon unsuppressed). And two, if that doesn't work I just ran a 1000 Roy da through it and I can even sell it for a decent price now. There's got to be a way....

Sounds like the suppressor is knocking out a lot of the recoil energy. Simular to what a comp does, and on a couple of my comped guns I'm running 8-9# springs in order to cycle. The gun should either lock up or not reguardless of spring weight, never had a "loose" lockup.

Look this up on Silencer Talk where they discuss the problem and a fix. Sounds like S&W knows what to do and I would expect they would swap out a barrel for you if you found the right CS person... Im running a YHM Cobra 2 on a M&P 45 without issue so sounds like it is on the 9mm only.

Freakin S&W! I've talked with them twice and they literally play dumb. Maybe ther are not playing. And "loose" lock up I mean you can gently shake the gun and it unlocks. You can lock the slide back point it strait up and drop the slide. It will barley lock and then (even with the reduced power striker spring) pulling the trigger pulls the slide out of battery. There's no way I'm going softer than 10#. I've read things about an odd lug geometry on the FA 9s, maybe I can big S&W more....

Sooooo, I'm thinking the early unlocking issue is my issue. My barrel basically unlocks imediatly, moving a few thousandths back before it dives strait down. A suppressor booster/LID lets the barrel/slide recoil back to gain a bit of momentum before the suppressor catches up. So there's no room to gain ANY momentum! The barrel just unlocks before the booster/LID has time to work. The slide is free to move back but all the momentum is killed in the first few millimeters. The barrel needs just a bit more room to basically gain speed. I'm going to call S&W and see what they say. I don't have high hopes to be honest....

Well S&W basically said that's the issue and to send it in and they will "fix" it. I hope so..

Got my VTAC back today. S&W replaced they've threaded barrel (now the new one has two dots in front of the locking lug). It "seems" to have more dwel time but IT STILL WILL NOT FUNCTION SUPPRESSED! And it looks like they ran a lot of rounds through it to I assume " break it in"? There was not that much locking block wear when I sent it in. DAMN IT!!!!!!
Looks like I'm selling a VTAC....

Life's too short to be frustrated with a 600.00 gun.

Run your HK with the can, and go on with life....

I know, it just sucks! The ONLY reason I bought this VTAC and a FDE Tundra was to run as a combo. If I would have know all the M&P issues were try I would have gone with an XDM and the osprey....

Okay we did some testing today! I had a friend bring along his M&P 9 so we could swap parts until we could narrow down the issue. First off I put my barrel and suppressor in his black M&P 9. It functioned flawlessly. So after swapping every part back and forth we narrowed it down to my VTAC slide! Barrels, locking blocks, frame, and slides were tried in every combination. My VTAC slide is the issue. Now I don't know if its due to the coating causing friction or if its a machining issue. Visually both slides are identical (other than finish), we couldn't find any issue. So I've got some more calls to make and some researching to do. So again, my issue is the VTAC slide....

Called s&w today and told them what I found. They really didn't care other than sending a call tag. So it's trip #2 to S&W.....
