Greetings.
New member.
Been lurking a bit lately.....

Was renting some CC pistol choices recently since my only "modern" piece was my venerable S&W 659, which is quite nice pistol but a bit bulky and heavy for a CC gun. I am used to carrying a lot out in the southwestern desert and such during the winters, but decided to go CC and wanted a much smaller pistol that retained decent range attributes.

Most of my shooting in recent years has been limited to a session or two of targets each year and killing several rattlers each spring whilst riding my mosickle out in the Arizona desert. Yes, I DO get off the bike to shoot the rattlers and yes I DO use snake rounds most of the time....

I found that my own personal taste is for a sub-compact 9MM. I tried the LCP, Taurus Slim, Sig 938 and XDs before shooting a Shield. I liked the Shield best. Functioned very nicely and shot tight groups on target at 7 yards. A soft shooter with a MUCH nicer trigger IMHO than some other options...AND has a thumb safety which I myself prefer for CC with a striker system. My next choice as far as actual shooting would have been the Sig, but over all I feel better with the Shield AND it's price is competitive.

Got a shiny new Shield last week. Cleaned it up just a tad and then shot the Illinois CCL qual rounds the next morning with no practice at all. Couldn't have been happier with this little gun. It groups just as well as my big old 659 and is light and small in size to boot.
It DOES tend to group just slight low and left for some reason but just slightly. I changed my site alignment a tad and this little gun will run rapid fire through a mag and stay in the X ring. I can't ask for more from such a handy sub-compact that conceals very nicely.

Thanks to you forum members for the G2 and help making a pistol choice. I haven't bought a small caliber gun in decades, and this one is a winner.

i liked my wife's shield 9 so much, i bought a shield 40 two weeks later...she liked my shield 40 so much it is now hers and i have the shield 9...

they are a great cc firearm...the .380's are just a little too small for me even though i have small hands...the shield fits perfect, hides well, shoots well, and is "purty"

low left shots are common for right handed shooters. It usually indicates that you are mashing the trigger a bit instead of a straight rearward press.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase.

Like Jonesy stated, low left is indicative of a poor trigger pull, not uncommon when getting accustomed to a new pistol.. a smaller one at that. Make contact with the pad of your finger and not the joint, and pull straight back. You'll have those shots centered in no time.
