thinking of the little one , the titan plus . specs are 300 lumens on the brightest setting , only takes 1 aaa battery .
a cool $100 . is the brand worth it or is there an equal quality same size one for less $
your opinions welcome .... never owned a sure fire light b 4 .

I carry a cheap SureFire plastic body in my truck (not LED), but it does not use an AA battery. Very seldom used, but it still works OK after about 10 years. $100 seems pretty high for an occasional light duty use flashlight. A suggestion - about 4-5 months ago I got a small Ray-O-Vac flashlight at Big Lots, LED and uses two AA batteries. Amazingly bright and I love it, it's now in my wife's car. No idea as to how many Lumens. I bought another one last week. Only $2, including two AA batteries. If you have a Big Lots nearby, try one of them before you shell out $100.

I purchased a surfire from Sportsman warehouse a couple of years ago. It failed in two weeks and I got no help from the factory at all. They told Me I did something to it. I picked another one up on a trade at a gun show and it didn't last much longer. I guess if You don't plan to use it, it might be OK.

I bought the Ray-o-Vac indestructible from WalMart for around $15. It has a bright beam and a low beam. It is a little over two years old and I am still on the original batteries. The bright beam 120 lu is super bright and the flashlight itself is made really tough. It has a push button for high/low beam on the end of it. I can't say enough about how much I like it.

$100 for an led flashlight these days is IMO way high priced. That sounds like gun show prices where they prey on spur of the moment sales. I would pass on that like a dragster doing under 4 second 1/4 mile.
I have two Surefire flashlights. One 300 lu is mounted to my shotty and the other is in the box it came in because it is junk. Right out of the box it was not as bright as a lit match. Bought from Bangkok seller and got screwed because he didn't replace it.

years ago I bought a Surefire 6P (60 lumen) before the LED bulb and it was $60. now to get the same version with the LED bulb is over $200. when I bought mine Surefire was really the only game in town for this powerful of a light in a small package. Since then there are a number of other companies that compete with Surefire and are probably just as good. I think today you are paying a premium for the Surefire name. now I don't think you need to pay for name anymore

as far as reliability is concern the only thing that I have replaced are the batteries. the lithium batteries seem to last pretty good but when the go there isn't much of a warning.

I have also have the plastic body version of the 6P and I keep it in my truck all of time and no issues with it either.

I have 2 Ultra Fire WF-501B 1000 lumen flash lights. They each came with 2 18650 rechargeable Li-ion batteries and a charger. I got them from Amazon for $12.99 each plus shipping. They are so bright, they can be used as a defense weapon at night, for no one can look at them when they are shined in the face. They are small enough to carry in your pants pocket and can be used as a striking weapon as a last resort. I don't go out at night without one in my pocket. Think of them as a light saber.

yes ....

i have a energizer hardcase i got for xmas . very nice , easy to get a grip on , 100 lumens on brite setting . have some other lights also for various uses .
the surefire appealed to me because of the small size & the very strong beam . that is way i am inquiring ... very reluctant to shell out that much $ .
that said is remains an appealing light if it were a bit more reasonable !

Unless you like buying batteries, look for a rechargeable flashlight. I bought a 260 lumen Streamlight rechargeable via 12VDC or 120VAC, cost me around $120 and I've been very happy with it.

I have a Surefire G2X Pro 320 lumen. and a P3X 1000 lumen. Quality lights.

300 lumens with a AAA.... Surefire has a reputation for nailing performance, but I'd look over at Candlelight and see if someone has runtime graphs to look at so you know what light you'll have for how long.

I've got some Pelican and Streamlight AAA lights. They might be a good alternative.

Fenix E12 LED Flashlight

I've been carrying this for a couple of years. It's not quite as bright as the surefire but at half the price I find it meets all my needs.

ETA: The price was actually a quarter of the price

Check out the Olight S15R. Mine is my favorite flashlight. Small, lightweight, bright, rechargeable and didn't break the bank. Ebay has the best prices.

I did buy a Streamlight PolyTac only because I wanted something that fit in a magazine-flashlight combo holder. My Olight didn't fit in any. I like my Streamlight PolyTac a lot, but it isn't rechargeable. For the price, I can't complain too much.

I have several single AAA, and AA Fenix LED lights.

They are superb, and did I say BRIGHT.

Run time is many times over an incandescent light. Hard to beat.

I also have many older incandescent Surefire, and Streamlight "police" models, that are never used anymore (short run time, and expensive bulbs). Will sell them, if anyone wants them. PM me. As new.

I think I have extra bulbs for them too.

I have been using an Armytek XM-L2. It uses the 18650 battery and ranges in light from .5 lumens to 1100 lumens. At .5 lumens you can leave the light on for a year. At 1100 lumens it will run for about 45 mins. There are several settings between. I can tell you that on a dark night 1100 lumens is really bright. As said earlier they make a greet defensive weapon. They also come with a belt clip, lanyard, and headband. I have two extra batteries and a maintainer for them.

I got a small rechargeable off Amazon for $13 (free shipping) that is really bright and works great. No way I am plunking out $100 for a flashlight these days. For $100 it should be able to light up the moon.

I've got a little S&W flashlight from Academy a couple of years ago. It costs around $14. It's very bright, they didn't put the lumens on the blister card. I like it. I don't think a streamlight is worth 7 times that, or any other flashlight.

I have seen replacement LED units advertised for incandescent flashlight bulbs. Has anyone tried them and are they worthwhile? I have a couple of older MagLites that might be worth the upgrade, or maybe not. For defensive use, not much beats a 4-cell MagLite used as a club.
