As I have mentioned elsewhere, my vision is far less than perfect. One of the annoying results is that when attempting to view small things, I spend too much time with my head and neck at uncomfortable angles trying to see through my tri-focals and a hand-held magnifier.
Yesterday at a resale shop I picked up a set of binocular surgical / dental loupes. They are mounted on an eyeglass frame, and have approx 3x magnification with a focal length of about 400 mm (~ 15-16 inches).
They will take some getting used to, but I now have a magnified view without getting a kink in my neck or having one hand busy holding a magnifying glass. I am looking forward to being able to see all kinds of things, and do all kinds of things, I've been missing for years.

I home made one a long time ago to see splinters I would occasionally get but not be able to see. It was one for stamps and I used coat hanger wire to attach it to a pair of cheap readers.

I use this magnifying lamp for close work on small stuff, About $30 on Amazon. I use it on its stand, like a desk lamp, but it has a clip for attaching to the side of your desk or work bench.

Just the other day I found a Peso at Cabela’s.
Not sure if some caballero lost it or if Cabela is salting the store.
Pretty worn, had to get my Loupe to read.
And when posted big, looks like this.

I have 3 Opti-Visors, each with different magnification, that I use several times a day. They are the best way to go for what I do. I need both hands free to work on or measure small parts that I'm making.

I tie fly's for fly fishing. These get rather small (Used to, my arthritis doesn't let me tie any that small any longer). Note the 3X lighted magnifier on a swing arm over my bench. (Also where I do my minimal gunsmithing). In addition, I have a pair of fishing 2.5X clip on magnifier glasses to use when fishing and tying small lures on the line.
