Given current price difference, one can almost buy 2 Sigma pistols for the price of 1 M&P. So, regardless of caliber (9 or 40), would you rather have 2 Sigma's or 1 M&P? And why?

I'm thinking the Sigma is my choice. I don't think the service life of the two is different eonugh to make a difference. Do you?

The service life really isn't the issue. Very few people actually wear a handgun out. The M&P is a vastly improved product that may fit your needs better. Or it may not. There's at least one gent on this board who believes that the recent production Sigma is a grand bargin if you find the human engineering acceptable. How long it may remain in the S&W product mix is unknown.

You would first have to find out what gun fits you better, which one you are comfortable with. I personally didn't care much for the Sigma, but the reality of it is my only real gripe was with the trigger. I like the M&P much more, so I would rather have one gun I love, than two I am OK with.

Both are great pistols and you will be happy with either. I own a Sigma 40 and very happy with it and looking to add a Sigma 9 soon. With the waranty I would not worry about the service life, they both will last a long time. My question would be will you use it for target shooting every few months and home defence or for competitive shooting.

Gotta say M&P. With the interchangable backstraps, they can be made to fit a wide variety of hands.
