I do not wear a belt. Very uncomfortable to me. Any suggestions for a holster for a J frame concealed revolver. I wear jeans and usually a t-shirt during summer months. Thanks

Have you tried a web belt or even a D Ring belt? The D Ring belts especially can be very soft and pliable depending on their material, and they're sufficient enough to hold up a J frame.

In cowboy action shooting, it is very common to see a suspender holster. These are built into the leather. Mine is for a Davis Derringer, but the 32 hammerless is very common. Many of the leather workers make multipul holsters for them. Go to the S.A.S.S. web page and look at the venders to see details. Also, I have a Hunter brand factory set of suspenders with a universal carry holster built in they may still make them(?). My good leather pair (Crome taned, black), I have worn them with a suit a few times, with a Davis 32 acp derringer with silvertip hp's as a bug. Ivan

I do not wear a belt and can IWB-appendix using a very old leather IWB holster w/a metal clip that holds my 442 while wearing jeans. The only other alternative is pocket carry and I go back & forth between IWB and pocket depending on circumstances.

Sounds like either a front pocket holster or a back pocket holster. Some people use one of my belt holsters as a pocket holster when they don't feel like wearing a belt.

For a person like me that doesn't wear a belt and just a t-shirt and jeans (I do tuck my t-shirt in) what is available in a pocket or back pocket holster without being to conspicuous. I will know doubt be getting a J Frame revolver in a 357 2" barrel. I like the idea of shooting 38's for my night stand at home and .357 in the field. Also is a shoulder holster out of the question? For winter I have no problem and a good shoulder holster would probably work fine and yet we can get back to the front pocket or back pocket holster. I would like to get one that does a good job for summer and winter without having to buy a holster for every occasion. I do not like to dress up to carry my weapon. Thanks

I personally hate J Frames in pockets. If you're looking to carry that way, just find yourself a pocket holster that works for you. I recommend finding one that is as thin as possible for comfort reasons. To me it's too bulky for front pocket.

Back pocket might be more difficult... you'd need to find pants with large back pockets. I know all of the back pockets on my pants are too small to carry my BG .380 in a pocket holster without it sticking out just a little bit. Plus, I don't want to be sitting on my gun. That's the real deciding factor.

Have you thought about one of the holster shirts, such as the 5.11 holster shirt?

These hickman suspenders that have loops that fit around your belt are the best I have found.Hickman Suspenders - Belt Style
Now if you wont wear a belt you need the hickman type with snap swivels that hook around your belt loops. You will also find those can tear up your leather truck seats and furniture. The OP with his first post said he wont or doesnt wear a belt and asked about suspenders. The extra weight of a belt and probable holster is going to pull his pants down without either suspenders or belt. Maybe the best bet then is bib overalls or coveralls.

Let me add something about J frames in pockets. Years ago I carried a model 60 with a snubbed hammer in my jeans pocket with no trouble. It got stolen along with my truck it was hideing in. I went to a old model 40. However I have found the model 40 has a way of ending upside down in my pocket! Maybe I wear my pants looser than I did 40 years ago. I just resent carrying a j frame snub in a holster. To me they are really built to pocket carry. I have a leather pocket holster for it but yet its a little tight and the holster comes out of the pocket with the gun! Most of the time I find myself walking around in a store with my hand in my pocket on the gun. Really when I get in my truck to go anywhere, the 40 gets put in the compartment between the seats.
The very best answer I had was a uniform motorcycle jacket I was issued years ago that had a snub pocket with strap built in the left breast pocket. But we only have 5 months of winter here. Way back I have had several vests with them built in too.

I have a couple of pocket holsters from Mika that work well. They hold the gun in proper position, don't print, and are sweat/moisture resistant.
I have both the round and square bottom, and find the square bottom works well in jacket patch pockets too. He occasionally gets backed up on orders, but the prices are great, and the product is better than others I've tried.

One thing they don't do is hold the gun so tight that the holster wants to come with it. So if you want to hang upside down, be ready to catch your gun ;)

Merrill, you might try getting that leather holster good and wet, and then put your gun in it after wrapping a few layers of saran wrap around the weapon. Let it dry, and it should still be tight enough to secure the weapon, but loose enough that it lets you draw. I've done this a couple times with tight holsters and it works pretty good.

Thanks, I will try that. Heard about it, just never tried it. Really what I had been doing is use the pocket holster in the truck compartment and just take it out and wear it loose in my pocket. I have been considering packing theresas 36 3" with a belt holster. My biggest problem is my obese build. No way can just a belt keep my pants up without suspenders with my big gut and noassatall. With suspenders you cant wear your shirt on the outside to conceal. Unless you give yourself a couple extra minuets lead time in the john, and lately my timeing has been getting out of hand!

I have one of these for a small semi auto - but they make them for revolvers too. You place it so the square flap is to the rear if carried in the rear pocket so it looks like a wallet to someone behind you. You can remove the flap and use the holster in the front pocket as well - w/large front pockets you can leave the flap on.

Hope this helps.

I've used the Uncle Mike's pocket holster to carry a Model 640 for over ten years. It's thin but does help some with printing. The gun comes out easily and the holster remains in the pocket every time. It now costs about $14--used to be $11--so when one gets a little threadbare after two or three years of daily carry, replacing it won't make you mortgage your firstborn. In Ed Lovette's excellent little book on the snubby revolver he mentions the Uncle Mike's and the Mika as his first and second choices, respectively, for pocket carry.
