Got I new 1911 pro 9mm. I'm going to run it in ESP in IDPA and Limited 10 in USPSA. I used to shoot a G17/34. Any tips on shooting the 1911 after being a long time Glock shooter?

Thx

Dry fire. A lot. Enjoy the beauty of a 1911 trigger. I love 1911's, my carry gun is in 38 super, the 9mm guns are just a joy to shoot!

Don't forget the safety ! :D

Being an old & long time 1911 shooter.
With my Glock,, the RO usual gets a chuckle with the 'make ready' when I try to flip the Glock safety on a couple times before I holster. And he gets to say " It doesn't have one." :o

You would be better off shooting Single Stack than Limited-10. You can load 10rds in your mags for 9mm in SS, compared with 8 for any Major cartridges (40, 10mm, .45acp). In L10 you will be scored Minor, where virtually everyone else will be shooting Major...makes a huge difference.

After the Glock wide magazines, the narrow 1911 magazines are a special challenge. So the practice drill of putting a single round in 5 magazines, fire one, reload, fire one, reload, etc will get you tuned up. Remember to keep the gun high and close when reloading, to get right back into action after the reload.
Seems like all I do is reload when shooting single stack.......
