Pictures would help. Crane number does not matter, what we call an assembly number. With the low serial number I am thinking 1917. Someone may be along with better knowledge.

It should have stocks that are dished at the top and concentric grooves on the sides of the hammer.

and those who are into the correct terms, prefer that when speaking S&W you call it the yoke instead of a crane. Crane is correct when speaking Colt
