I have the opportunity to pick up a 4" 500 with case, both compensators, all paperwork, in excellent condition for $860 OTD Dates to 2004 or 2005 based on the fired casing date.
Great or just an OK deal? I see them priced on GB for $1K and more but I don't think they sell for those prices. Not needed for hunting so I only want it if it is a great deal.

I don't know if I would call that a great deal, but it is at least a good one. I paid $900 for a four inch 500 with box, comps and shell about four years ago.

$750 would be great. $950 is at the market or maybe a hair below it. In between is a judgment call.

That may not be a STEAL, but it is a 10-15% below the going rate

This is a FUN revovler. It was the second of my 500s.

i got mine new for $900 the first year they were produced. so not a great price but a good one based on current pricing. it is fun to shoot and is can't be in that bad of condition. hornady ammo actually hurts my hand after a few rounds, but lighter loads make it no worse than a 44 mag. and just look at it! a 4" 500 is about the coolest looking revolver ever made.

Thats not a bad deal. My local shop had a clean one for a long long time and eventually sold for $710.00 +taxes,etc..
I should have bought it even though I didnt NEED it.
