I seen two at the local gunshow %95-98 cond. Value set at $850 and $900 Are they demanding that much with the box and tool kit. Wow I was shocked. I was thinking $600 range. What was I thinking???

For $850-$900, don't walk away....

RUN!

That's way to expensive. I think that your $600 figure is much more reasonable (if not still on the high end).

What could possibly justify that price? I mean I know it is a desirable model but that is nearly double what I would expect to pay for a 686.

Gentlemen, I have a 686-0 with a sn prefex of AAC66XX, This would put in the first group of 686's made. It is a 2.5 inch barrel with a sq butt. This gun has the M stamp and is a very good shooter. I had alyways thought that the 2.5 inch gun did not come out till the -3, much later. I bought this gun used about ten years ago and thought someone before me had rebarreled it. The workmanship is flawless which made me wonder about it's past history. . So now you're saying this might be a Lew Horton and correct. It looks as if I might be needing to send some money to Mr. Jinks for a letter. Anyone have any ideas, thoughts or comments? Captain Hornet

I traded for a 686-1 2.5", it was made in late May of 87. I believe that all the dash 0's were from the Horton run but I thought they were all rd butt? A call to Mr. Jinks might be in order before plunking down the $ for a letter. As for value, it's only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it so for someone out there $900 might be the price for them? To each his own I guess, none of my 686's are or sale regardless of price.

Very high price

I think $850 to $900 is way too high for that gun. I bought the one shown below for $595 about 6 months ago, and felt the price was fair.
