I have an unfired (basically new) high gloss version of the un-catalogued model 042 precursor to the 442 airweight snubbie. I installed a perfectly matching new Tyler T-grip. There is a good article on "The Gun Zone" about these little guns. Does anyone know what the value or sell price should be on these? I'm not wanting to sell as it is the 2nd one I've had (first was a similar condition matte version) and I regretfully sold the first one. However, it is a safe queen that could be sold if I absolutely needed a more useable firearm or one that fills a gap in my safe. I don't have an AR15 for instance. Just in info gathering stage.
Thx

I saw one sell for something around $575 not long ago. The "lemon squeezer" safety is kinda a novelty now days. What are the serial number, Spec. Ord. number, and Product Code for your gun?

Not a pre 442!

The reason the "042" was not catalogued is, it was produced from an unsuccessful attempt at building the 642. In 1992 the factory could not get the finish on the Al. frame to look like the stainless steel barrels. Rather than scrap all the frames they refinished them and overstamped the 642 with the 042. There were 4415 guns refinished in a bright blue and a satin blue. I have seen them sell for $700.00 w/box and all paper work. The product code was #103792

The gun I was thinking of was the M40, with the grip safety. This is why pictures are always welcomed. They help with positive identification.
