I have a sw 947,38+p snub nose that I am not able to find any information on. It has a ported barrel and finished in black. I am a new member and this is my first post. Any information will be greatly appreciated,thanks in advance.

Welcome! There are several short barreled S & W .38 revolvers with porting, but to my knowledge there is no model 947. Please post a photo, or give the information listed in this post:

It's a current production J or small frame revolver, with a stainless barrel and cylinder, silver anodized aluminum alloy frame and the internal lock. Not sure if any were ported and/or black from the factory, so a photo may help here - it may have been modified from stock.
