SW Speed Scabbard MP Holster

The better holsters usually(?) have a sight rail or track in them to help prevent either the gun hanging up when drawn, or the problem your experiencing. Does the gun still have it's OEM front sight?

I have an inexpensive Don Hume open top for an XD 45. drawing and holstering the weapon over a 3 year period has cut a very noticeable groove in the leather top and bottom. I like the holster but at some point the leather will tear at the top. I already have a replacement......and yes, the front sight carries the leather dust until I brush or blow it off.

I have the same holster only mine's tan. Mine will scrape too and I have noticed "leather dust" on my front sight from time to time.

I've had my holster for almost 3 three years. It doesn't scrape like it used to :)

Anyone else try this holster: Product: Right Hand Black Leather Speed Scabbard For M&P 9MM & 40 Cal

My front sight scrapes the inside when drawing coating the front sight with debris making the white dot darker.

Curious if anyone else noticed that their leather holster does the same?

I've got DeSantis Speed Scabbards for three different firearms. Glock, compact and full size 1911's. I personally have not had that experience with any of mine. Don't have one for my M&P. Just looked at the Glock model and there's plenty of sight clearance on that one.

Thumb break strap or Speed Scabbard??

If anyone has tried them- is the speed scabbard (without thumb break) secure enough, or is thumb break recommended? I am about to purchase M&P compact 9mm. Considering concealed carry (possibly- I would be new to cc) and was wondering what you folks preferred for holster. Would prefer leather. Thanks for any suggestions.
