Hey,
I have a SW1911 in the shop. It will not fire when the trigger is pulled. I checked everything over and the only thing I found was a messed up firing pin block. I thinking that this is the issue. Rough marks all around one edge of the block. Let me know what you think or if you think there might be another issue.

Thanks

If it's in the shop and you can't even attach a picture, I'm not sure how much we can help. We also don't know the specific model -- the earlier S&W 1911 pistols had a swartz safety which is a firing pin lock actuated buy the grip safety.

If this lock is broken or compromised, the firing pin will -NOT- be allowed to travel forward no matter how many times the hammer hits it.

The design of the Swartz is such that a ham-fisted owner could VERY EASILY shear off the actuating "finger" when re-assembling the slide to frame because holding the frame with grip safety pushed inward makes the actuating finger RISE upward... where it can be sheared clean off by re-installing the slide.

It will be interesting to hear what your gunsmith (or has it been sent back to S&W?) has to say.

Sorry sevens, I will attach pictures as soon as I can.
