I looked at a SW1911ES today. There were two in the shop, on one the safety lever would get stock half way and on the other the safety was not positive. In contrast the Pro Carry Compact, I looked at, was perfect and worked just like it should. Has this been an issue with the ES?

I have a SW1911 Compact ES, and it isn't an issue on mine...but I've read that many have had to have the plunger tube restaked. That may be the issue with those two pistols, I don't know...but mine has a firm and positive on and off.

I also have a 5" and a 3" Pro model 1911, and I sure do love these pistols!

Glad to here it. I really like the ES. It felt better balanced in my hand than the Pro Compact. I was just real put off by the safety on the two they had. Since the shop owner is sending both back to S&W, he said he would hold the next one for me to check out. Do you like the Pro or the ES better?
