SW40E question

hey guys,
Brand new owner of a used S&W SW40E. Stiff trigger, as are all of the older Sigma's, as I've read. So does anyone have one of these? whats their opinion? And..can anyone tell me how old this gun is? Got a pretty good deal on it.

That's the model that was before the VE I think.
And I'm not sure when they switched to the VE version.
But taking a wild guess, yours is probably mid to late 90's.
I forgot what the difference is between and E and a VE.
I think yours has the newer 4 inch barrel, but seems like
it didn't have the accessory rail or something like that. ??
The original Sigma had a longer 4.5 inch barrel.
