i purchased a sw40ve from a online auction recently,it has 2 mags case all paperwork and is ss/black.i had heard all the rants about the imfamous trigger from hell, how it ripped the bloody index fingers from all but those with gorilla sized hands, what a bunch ****.its not a light trigger like my g17 but i don't worry as much about accidental discharge.
if someone out there offered a 40 cal.revolver that held 15 rnds and was the size of the sigma for under 400.00 everyone would want one.we live in a age where we are told by others what to like and dislike.most bashers have never held one or they have hands like a 4 yr. old.be proud of this fine american made weapon and let the followers chase after their gun writer heros that tell them what to like.i like my sw40ve and don't care who likes it.

About the only thing i can positively note about the Sigma where guns costing $200 more might have an edge would be about 10mins extra time in total for a couple of light touches on a buffing wheel for several parts prior to assembly......of late, some of the newer ones come with steel sights, but i kinda like the plastic as it at least stays black.... generally most "damage" i ever do to sights is finish wear and pretty much anything that would damage the plastic sights would put a hurting on steel sights, too....as you note, and i agree, the heavier pull is safer than most....honestly, about all i read about nowadays on most any other gun has very little to do with them being superior in any manner of functional way....the reviews read more like fashion comments out of GQ, mentioning racy angles, sexy curves, aggressive texture and design and pretty much concentrate on what gun the reviewer thinks looks better.....the Sigma is just a fashion has-been for gun owners more worried about fashion and running with the in-crowd....unforgivable in today's market.

I'm one of those who has a Sigma 40VE, and does not like the trigger. I don't own the gun, it is issued by my employer, who will not let us carry what we want, so I can't have a trigger job done to it. The Sigma does have it's good points, but I just can not seem to get past the crappy trigger. If it works for you, that is fantastic and I'm happy for you.

I see the words "crappy", "terrible", and worse bandied about regarding the trigger, while the same people swoon over the M&P, Glock, and etc....quite frankly, compared to a REALLY good trigger on a classic older S&W revolver, 1911, or even a SAA, all of the new gun triggers are, to be kind, cheap...

compared to the Sigma, the others are a good bit lighter, and somewhat smoother....and that's it....and the heaviness was built in originally as an answer to real safety problem on the new style guns, the safety problem being a lack of safety....

it seems Smith tried to get away from a holster now needing to be an integral part of the gun to prevent it firing unexpectedly, and on their newer guns have just thrown in the towel on that idea....

personally, i LIKE a gun that doesn't require it to be wrapped 24/7 in a bulky holster simply to prevent it from going off....no other gun i've ever owned before the Sigma required that, and i don't appreciate the fact the new and improved and lighter guns do require that....they should be honest an include the holster on all new guns specifications as to size and weight, as they surely can't be carried or stored without them....except the Sigma and maybe a very few others...."terrible"?....quite the opposite

I shot my sigma 40 and beretta 92c today. There is a difference in the two guns but each has it's own personality. I can shoot the sigma as well as I can the beretta, love both guns. Let people bad mouth the the sigma all they want it's there loss not ours. :D

I just rejoined "Club Sigma". First off... I bought one years ago when they were new. I hated it. The trigger was stacky, heavy beyond belief, and just plain terrible. I never could get used to it and yes it ate a blister into my finger on my first range visit. I emptied nine boxes of Blazer aluminum and gave up trying to love it. A few days later I brought it to a local gun smith. I asked him about doing a trigger job on a gun and we talked for a few minutes. When I opened the case his whole mood shifted. He made an ugly face and told me to close the case and if that was all I had then we were done. I was in shock. I ended up selling it about a month later. It was a .40SW I think VE. It had the lighter colored gray frame with no rail and the stainless slide. Well I walked into a deal on a next to new one for $250 out the door. I was interested but all the bad memories came flooding back. Bad trigger, slippery grip under recoil, gun smith no likey... Then he told me to dry fire it. This is not in the slightest bit like that original model. The trigger is still a little heavy but NOTHING like they used to be. It has the snapping green twig feel like a heavy trigger on a Glock. I have to say that I like it and am looking forward to a range visit. There are many like her but this one is mine:

The way I see it, the trigger requires the intention to fire from the shooter every time. What is the problem with that? If you have made up your mind to shoot, your trigger pull will be a smooth, fluid motion. If you are hesitant, you will pull too slowly, waiting for the gun to fire rather than firing the weapon. I dont know, I didnt grow up with hair trigger pistols, so I just dont pay attention to it. All I know is there should be no such thing as an accidental discharge with this fire arm, which is a good thing

I have a couple of friends that have glocks, beretta's and taurus' handguns, that had never heard of a Sigma. When they picked up my Sigma, the first thing they said was how good/natural it felt and pointed. By the time they were finished, the one with the glock was disappointed he bought the glock, and the other one is looking for a 9ve.
