I recently purchased this SW99 in 45 acp for $200. It had some serious seat belt marks on the right side of the grip. I had always wanted to do a stipple on a poly pistol. This became a good candidate, also didn't care for the large hump on the back strap even with the small one installed. So this is the end result after shaving, re-shape and fill the roll pin holes and slot and totally blended the back strap lines. I decided to leave the factory front strap and some of the back strap, it gave a nice contrast and custom look. Going with a set of XS Big Dot sights and a Bedair guide rod. So what are you opinions of the job?

Thanks guys, yeah I'd looked at these pistols over the last few years but they were always priced quite a bit higher. When this one came along, I decided to do it, the grip now resembles my 1911 with the arched main spring housing. I decided to just practice on a piece of poly until I found what not only looked good but felt good in the hand.

Here's a thought let's throw the SW99 threads in with the Sigma & SD threads where no one will think to look for them. Here's another idea, how about starting a sub forum for the SW99 series pistols where they will be found?

Here's a thought; post your comments in the Forum Office down at the bottom of the main page so the Mods actually see them.

The SW99 in .45 ACP was a possible choice for me when I was looking for a replacement of my Glock 21. Loved the GLOCK but wanted something with better grip. Got a S&W M&P .45 instead because I could get them dirt cheap. I paid $420 out the door for mine. But I'm still on the lookout for a SW99 .45 ACP.

This design is doing well, Magnum Research has brought out the new poly Baby Eagle and it's the exact copy of the Walther version. The only thing is S&W is still the only one with 45 acp. I really love this gun, especially after modifying the back strap to simulate a 1911 with an arched mainspring housing. There are a lot of police returns out there that have marred grips where it would hit the seat belt buckle. You can find one cheap and do the same texture job that I did. It's a lot of fun and you'll really appreciate it a lot more than just sending it off somewhere to be done.

Updated mods

Installed the XS Big Dot night sights and the Bedair custom stainless captured guide rod.

Just ran across one that's in great shape for $300. I thought was a good deal though not as nice as your $200 pickup so I grabbed it. Since they were only made for a few years and to date are the only .45acp version of the P99 design made makes them desirable. Haven't taken it to the range, but just ordered 2 extra mags from CDNN for it for $20/each which is a great deal for OEM mags.

Can't wait to take it to the range.
