Sw9ve barrel work in a sd9ve?

Yes, it should. They look to be the same. I have a fitted a SW barrel in a SD and vise versa, but I have not shot either of the guns with that configuration.

I just recently acquired my first SD9VE. I have had SW9VE and other Sigma variants for years. Your question got me thinking so I took these pictures. They appear to be the same. They both fit in the other gun without any issues. I have yet to fire the SW barrel in the SD and vise versa. The SD barrel is machined with a slight taper that ends about 3/4 of an inch prior to the end of the barrel. The ends of both barrels are the same diameter.

Both the slide and barrel assembly of each gun will fit on the others frame without any issues. Both frames will dry fire the other guns assembly. I have not shot any live rounds out of either gun with this combination.

I have contacted Apex because i bought the threaded barrel for SD not realizing that i had the SW. Apex swears up and down it wont work. I have since emailed S&W about this to hear what they have to say. I shall keep yall informed

They are interchangeable unless the new 2.0s changed something but I doubt it. That taper on the SD barrels is just to improve feeding and reduce weight. You will see that on 1911s sometimes. Some of the 3rd gen sigmas had overly tight barrels. One of my Ported Sigma 3rd Gens is so tight its hard to pull the barrel from the slide on disassembly and from what I can tell the problem is in the slide not the barrel itself. Another SW9VE I have with factory polished slide flats is the same way. Sometimes you will see on the 1st and second gen Sigmas where the slide gouge the barrels. Also where the recoil spring does the same.

Looks like the taper alleviated all that making them a little more friendly to the elements it extremely dirty while also smoothing out the cycle if things happened to be on the tighter side with particular pistols. Smart move being that these are basically economy pistols for S&W. Theres really no downside other than a slightly lighter barrel. The effect on lock time would be minimal.

That APEX barrel IDK. Should work fine as its a drop in fit. If it was a match fit barrel that needed work it would be another thing entirely. Should drop in just fine. I have run SD barrels in Sigmas without issue but I tend to stick to the older barrel design with the non taper.

All my barrels are factory or EFK Dragon (Long discontinued) and they all work fine. I have heard rumors of Glock barrels working in 1st get Sigmas but have never tried it. Factory Sigma Barrels are a step up from factory glocks barrels IMO. SW9F and SW40F barrels will NOT work in 2nd/3rd Gen Sigma or the SD Line. A Change was made to both the Barrels AND The Locking Blocks after the 1st gen pistols.

Those Apex barrels for the SD are nice though. Apex gone crazy with prices but they have quality stuff most of the time. Im not sure they are worth $230 but theres not many other options if any for SDs and Sigma most of the time which is a shame considering how popular they are.
