Swapping 3rd Generation uppers

I've been curious about this slide swapping and decided to try this out between a 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen. My 469 has a very holster worn blued slide and I just found a 6906 slide cheap enough to pick up and experiment with. I don't know if it's been done before, but I like the idea of getting a more wear resistant stainless slide for less than it would cost to refinish my old slide. If it doesn't work then I'll just put it up for sale at least I gave it a shot (pardon the pun).

Specifically - can a 4053 (not 4053TSW) slide assembly be installed on a 4056TSW. The S&W CS rep I spoke with, said he thought the "Slide Stop Notch" was located in different positions - can anyone confirm this?
He also mentioned the 8 round magazine for the 4053 cannot be swapped out with the 9 rounders which accompany the 4053TSW / 4056TSW – can anyone validate this.

The original 4053 was single stack, the TSW models were double stack. The magazines are not compatible. The TSW models also have full length rails, the original 4053 did not. The slides are not compatible either.

I put a 6904 Slide/Barrel/Recoil Rod & Spring on one of my 469's and it shoots nice groups with the three dot sights on the 6904 slide.

My sight picture is now improved over the 469's original fix sights.

Thanks 586L-Frame,

You've gotten me excited. I should be getting the slide in the next couple days. This will be motivation to get my frame refinished, maybe duracoated something different to go along with the stainless slide. Then I'd like to replace the front sight with a night sight. I'll post pictures if everything works the way I want it to.
