Some 800 LEO's in Australia conducted raids in Sydney, preventing terrorist attacks against civilians. Apparently these folks were planning to grab people at random and kill them, posting the video on the Internet. Obviously these terrorists are not aware of how well armed and able to defend themselves the people of Australia are. Wait a minute.....come to think of it..........never mind. No country, under such a threat, would scrap the rights of its citizens to protect themselves. No country would be THAT stupid.

Whether armed or not, ain't nobody snatching me up off the street, taking me somewhere, and cutting my head off while I wait for it calmly. If armed, I'm going for slide lock, if not (and because of work restrictions I am unarmed in public a lot of the time) I will be the craziest old mad slasher with my little Cold Steel folder. I might wind up dead (trust me, if they get you in a van to cart you to a "remote location" you're dead anyway) but it will be a crime scene with lots of blood. Nobody cutting my head off with the Washington Monument in the background. Oh yeah, be looking out for that film soon, I expect. Unless we set their house on fire first. A fire that can be seen from Space. Not near space either, more like Jupiter. Joe

This Isis thing seems to be drawing out every halfwit homicidal nut job in the world. I dont know what the allure is but hopefully it could work as a good bait to get the worlds hordes of them in one spot and, ---well, you get the picture. I dont like collateral damage.

Saw this on the news. Not just in Sydney. Some were up in the Gold Coast, too, in Brisbane.

As Joe posted. If someone try's to force you into a vehicle, they have every intention of killing you. Hell, they might be successful but I’m not going to make it easy for them. I plan on going down swinging, right where I’m standing.
I may not win the fight, but they (whoever they are) are going to know they have been in the fight of their life.

I've already discussed contingency plans of action with my neighbors in case these terrorist animals attack the homeland.

We are the silent majority and should they mess with Red, White and Blue, then they will have awaken a sleeping giant. They will suffer the wrath of our patriotic valor!

Oprah says never get in the trunk.

In addition to your firearm, a lot can be said for a straight razor as a last ditch weapon.
After being placed in the car trunk, pull the pin on your CCW hand grenade--then let them explain to their insurance agent what happened to the car that the bank is holding the note on.

We have a friend in a medical field in NSW, and said he lives uncomfortably close to where one of the raids took place.

He minces no words. He wants Muslims out of the country.

You might search for the video of an Australian cop stopping a Muslim woman wearing her burqa. She accuses him of religions persecution, and of touching her. Too bad for her: his dash cam was running. She has been charged with making false charges against a police officer.

I find it interesting that these Islamist criminals are targeting Australia before they have acted here. Couldn't have anything to do with the Australian government having taken major steps to disarm its citizens and prohibit them from taking self-defense measures, could it?

Note to the comment about being prepared and able to resist abduction:
Child abductors know how easy it is to fool and overcome children and youths. Those who abduct adults plan better. Force, speed, numbers and surprise, can overcome anything. We've seen assaults and attempts to abduct people from mall parking lots. I find it shocking how often one criminal acting alone is successful, especially violent husbands and boy friends abducting and killing women in their lives.

Stay alert; don't go back and forth to your car with your arms full; do a little surveillance before entering any area where you might be approached. First line of defense; RUN!
Don't think for one moment that you're safe just because you think you are.
Time to address my paranoia: Valium and a marguerita.

Anyone remember the cover to a magazine that came out after 9/11 happened (the original event) that showed a Bald Eagle in red, white and blue (or either wearing an American flag)--sitting on somehting and sharpening his talons? I remember that cover well--andit really neds to be reprinted. Anyway, I cnat remember off hand-the title of that magazine but--I suspect is was some Gun or type magazine. that cover said it all for me......I hear a LOT of people talking about what they are going to do ifthose jerks start their stuff here? I dont think they reckon on us having what? arouund 23 MILLION vets living, 1 million in Law enforcement, many other millions of gun owners--as well as NRA types. thats all im hinting at. :)

The Japanese didn't want to put troops on US soil because they said of the US, "There is a rifle behind every blade of grass." Makes sense to me.

I wish it WAS true. Unfortunately the story itself is probably just that--a good story. A guy I once shot high power rifle with occasionally commented with a sigh, "What we have is a nation of riflebumblers."

It's not, with some exceptions---and shouldn't have to be that way. A lot of ARs have been sold in the past few years. They should get out and get proficient with them on general principles. An M&P 15-22 is good for that, too.

BTW, this "homeland" stuff smacks too much of European statism to suit me. Dammit, this is...America!

I HATE the term Homeland. For goodness sake, who the heck talks like that? "The terrorists might attack the Homeland." Makes me want to vomit. Sounds like Fatherland, Motherland, etc. Right out of a bad WWII movie.

That reminds me--watch: Fatherland w/ Rutger Hauer. I cant say more.
There's a post 1933 German film called (I believe) "Heimat". It contains a soliloquy by one of the characters on the mystical connotations of "homeland".

I think of the Nazi's speech every time I hear "homeland".

It's why I'll NEVER refer to the United States as such.

Me too--which is why im not comparing just mentioning that its what im reminded of. Campaign posters also remind me of those that stalin used all through his life-the way the artwork and slogans were used.
