I recently bought a Smith 327 TRR8 and am trying to find a light to mount to the rail. I didn't know if anyone who has this, had any recommendations. I like the size of this one, but didn't know if it would fit... SureFire XC1 LED Handgun WeaponLight
I was hoping to find one that wouldn't protrude out past the end of the barrel.

The light you list is made for compact autos. It will fit but it is kind of petite for such a big revolver and will have a long distance between your trigger and activation switch. I stuck a TLR-1HL on mine. It really lights up the area but it is still a reach to activate the switch. That's the big problem with installing a light on an R8/TRR8 - the barrel length puts the activation switch out of usable reach so you either have to alter your grip or use your off hand to flip it on. Not a huge deal but a bit different.

The best tactical light for a TRR8 is a Surefire 6P or equivalent, which fits by itself in a holster on your left hip.

A barrel mounted light is not practical to use in a typical self-defense situation. It takes two hands to operate (one for the revolver), and it's not practical to mount a remote switch. You don't want your hand in front of the cylinder when it goes bang.

I use Crimson Trace grips for SD revolvers. Their operation is intuitive and they fit in any standard holster. I've had better grips, but the rubberized CTs are okay, and not too sticky for concealed carry. If you sight in at 50' or more, the offset can be ignored.

Groo here
Look at the Olight Pl-1 II pistol light.
I just got one and it is little more than the rail wide,
runs on one CR123, and puts out 450Lumans!!!

I put the Streamlight TLR- 3 on mine. It was recommended because it doesn't extend past the muzzle. I am satisfied.
