My Uncle Orris always had Fox Terrior Squirrel Dogs.
They were trained to turn the squirrel on the tree to make it visible to the shooter.
And if the squirrel jumped or fell to the ground, Joe would jump it.
It added a whole new level of exitement to squirrel shooting.
I guess that Joe wasn't that Tactical, he was more like Practical.

These al. Mountain feist are practical and tactical.....they hunt with ears, eyes and nose.....wide open!!!!(Rufus was 50bucks at six weeks old.....rascal the female, 65 bucks at 10 weeks old) Mountain feist' are not recognized by AKC. A very healthy mixed up squirrel dog breed that anyone should consider owning. House pet extraordinaire! Watch dog....unmatched!!

A Cattle Dog will round 'em up & bring you the whole mob at one time. ;)

So far Flint has killed,

Several mice, one rat and one duckling when he was young. The squirrels don't dare come in range but mess with him all the time.

I measured his tennis ball catch the other day and he caught it a seven plus feet. He punctures them almost daily. Small animals don't stand a chance.

There were two bunnies heer when we moved in. Flint couldn't stand it and managed to get them out of the hole. only about four inches long. Lucky for them I was there. They're everywhere but cute just the same.

Our whippet chases them all the time, on leash and off. She caught one while in the neighbors back yard and chomped it. She would have had a few more if I had not shortened her leash just in time. She's a quick little beast.
