Talons installed on my Shield 👍

I used to have the rubber talons on my shield but the corners peeled up on me. It could have been a mistake I made during installation, but I went by the book and took my time. Anyway, I'm needing some more grip on my shield and I may give them another go. Undecided between the rubber and granulate this time though.
I haven't had any of my Talon grips peel on any of my guns but I im a little excessive on the cleaning . I'll hit it with the supplied alcohol patch and then take a tooth brush and a rag and a bottle of alcohol and clean it again . But I see what you mean about the corners on the Shield although mine haven't been on that long they seem to being staying put and I'm wearing my shield IWB .
Another thing I do is after I put them on is I'll watch TV and sit there and press on all the edges/corners for a while . If I were you though and the rubber gave me trouble try the granulate maybe you'll have better luck and maybe try doing what I did for the application .

I had the Talon grips on my shield but I shoot it quite a bit and found the grips just did not hold up. Went to a Hogue Handall Jr. grip sleeve. Like it so far.

All my Talons have held up great , I'm wondering if the installs had anything to do with the issue of not holding up . I think the Hogue grip sleeves have a nice feel but the issue I've been reading is they move around and sometimes shifting downing on the grip causing issues with inserting a mag . But if it's working for you that's great and all that really matters !

I placed a order yesterday for the granulate grips and got a email this morning saying that my order shipped! I also ordered a couple extra ones for my magazines as well, cant wait for it to come in as I've heard so many good reviews about it. I was hesitant to try the rubberized grip as I was afraid that it might get too tacky or sticky over time.

Great choice you'll love your Talons , but you'd been ok with rubber they don't get more tacky over time they pretty much just maintain the same feel . When you first install them though there a little more tacky then after a week or so . But if you ever want them to get a little more grip you just clean them with a little alcohol and there like new again .
Btw if you find the Granulate has a little to much bite just hit them with a little sand paper it'll smooth them out .

Love the Talon grip's. Have them on all my M&P's.
On my FS, I installed the grips, then cut away the part that overlaid the palm swell. My palm swells are all stippled. (sorry, no pic's, just checked)
The look and feel is fantastic.
For all you stippling haters, and there are a few out there, I only stipple parts that can be replaced by factory originals.

I have also cut a piece of the extra grip material, and place it on the frame where my trigger finger rests. Extra confirmation that my finger is in a safe position on the frame.

Do the Talons grab a shirt when carrying IWB? Just picked up a Shield yesterday and am debating between a slip on grip and the Talons to give me a little more texture to hand on to. Put 350 rds thru it in an hour :)

Mine doesn't but I have the rubber . It's possible the granulate might but with that you might have to worry about it wearing out your cloths depending how you conceal . I wouldn't get a slip on because they have a Tendacy to move around and even shift down causing it to be difficult to insert a mag so I'd pass on a slip on .

Ok, yeah, looking at the rubber ones. It needs a bit more grip for my taste, so the rubber Talons should work well. Thanks!

Your welcome and post your thoughts after you get them on .
I think your going to really like them just make sure you follow the instructions and don't rush it .

Finally got mine installed. Had to do a little trimming on the extended mag spacer piece, because of the Pearce extensions, but no big deal. Looks and feels great. Hope to try it out this weekend.

I just ordered a pachmyer slip on grip because I was wanting to add a little girth to the grips but after reading all the positive responses to talon grips I may change my mind my question is do they add to the blackstrap
On the grip I am used to shooting a ruger p95 which I love just to
Bulky for CCW do the talons add extra girth and blackstrap thanks for your help you guys are the greatness at answering questions to us newbies in semi auto pistols I have plenty of experience in rifles but not handguns so any help would be greatly appreciated

I just took off a Pachmayr Grip Glove off my Shield and installed the Talons. The Talons wrap all the way around, so you will get a little thickness all the way around, but not a lot. Even though the Talons are'nt anywhere near as thick as the Pachmayr, to me the grip has an overall better and consistent feel to it.

X 2 , they really don't add much thickness at all but they make you feel like the grip fills your hand more probably from the texture at least from my experience with Talons .

They arrived yesterday, so I hope to install them tonight when I get home from work!

Just installed the Talon grips last night on my M&P shield 9, this was my first time and I have to say I'm impressed. I ordered the Granuated grip and it reminds me of that non-slip material for a skateboard. It's about .5mm thick and doesnt add any thickness to the grip, but it does drastically improve the grip & control of the pistol. I followed the directions & used the alcohol wipes to clean off the pistol & magazine, gave it a test fit first and slowly applied the grip. Pressed it firmly in place paying close attention to the outsides edges and grabbed my wife's hairdryer I gave it a once over a few times and pressed it down some more, working on the edges, before proceding on to the pistol itself. Same deal, gave it a test fit first before peeling off the backing and started with the front finishing off by aligning the rear tabs, pressing it down & heating it up with the hairdryer and pressing it down, the edges too. The cut of the material fits the grip of the pistol exactally & precisely. What I did first was to align the circle of the material to the M&P logo and then work along the edge making sure everything was lined up before pressing down & heating... The directions say that if its too coarse then you can lightly sand it down with 120 grit sandpaper, but I think its just fine... I went ahead & ordered another one for my M&P 380...

Ive been considering the Talons for a while. its hot here in Fla and I carry IWB 90% of the time. No undershirt, just shorts and a t shirt.
Any experience with the Talons on bare skin? seems like theyd rub you raw?
I'm from Florida also. I have talons on my FS M&P 9 and my biggest gripe with them is they tend to peel off due to heat. I had to make a stop on the way home from the range one day and when I got back home the talon grips had nearly come all the way off. They do have good customer service and sent me replacement grips free of charge the first time I ordered from them because I was have issues with the grip sticking to the gun I was putting it on.
