I have two side plate screws with some slightly buggered threads . Called S&W , they sent new screws no charge . But when i got them they dont feel quite right when i try to put them in , the flat top one that goes under the top of the grip wont even start , so i think maybe the holes need a tap run into them to dress the treads . Anybody know what size tap & should it be a bottom tap (flat bottom on tap) so it can clean threads to the bottom of the hole . This is for a 29-2 mid 70s' . Any advice or info would be welcome , thanks Greg

If the screw doesn't want to start, I would use a plug tap before I ran the bottoming tap in to clean up the threads. You don't want to start the tap cross treaded....
