I have a new M63-5, which I really like. I'm thinking of replacing its S&W rubber grips with Altamont's wood target grips---the ones that come with the M60-Pro. Nothing wrong with the rubber grips, I just like the look of wood grips. I'd appreciate it if M63-5 owners who've made this grip change could let me know whether the change made any difference in the shooting experience. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I bought my S&W 63 used in 2009, it was wearing these Pachmayrs.

I later installed a set of Herrett stocks. I would of preferred the bottom edge to be rounded.

My revolver now wears a set of S&W target stocks. I like these the best.

Yup I use the pachmeyer presentation rubber grips on my ccw guns. Leave the wood grips for show and range shooting n the rest. My 1911's get the full wrap around grips from Israeli IAI brand from cdnn.

Agree with others. I use Pachmayr Presentations for GO, and correct S&W wood stocks for SHOW :)

I must have unusual hands, but when I use any "Grips by Goodyear" on guns with noticeable recoil, my palms get irritated very quickly. Also I dislike the "tacky" feel of the rubber. Since wood gives me a better feel and less pain, and since most folks agree that wood LOOKS better than rubber, I go with smooth combat grips with finger grooves on about everything from a Model 60 to a Model 29. But that's just me... "your mileage may vary!"
