I'd like to have a .500 target hammer installed on my 586 no dash. Anyone know if this is doable. I know it would need to be fitted by a very competent gunsmith, as this revolver has an extremely smooth DA pull, and the SA is equally as great, and I want it to remain as such. I just really like the aesthetics of the large hammer, and after 25 or more years of ownership, I think it deserves to be dressed up a bit. Thanks for any input.

I have a target hammer in my 586 no dash, so it is doable, but the problem will be finding the hammer. I got mine from Brownells many years ago, but I don't find a listing for one now.

They have a .500 color case hardened target hammer assembly listed at Numrich/Gun Parts Corp listed for your 586 for $65.25 and in stock.

The link to it is right here. I've bought from them myself and they are one of my trusted vendors for parts.

With that said, you might have to do some fitting to get it to work properly. I've been lucky in the hammer change I did on my original 27-2 when I started having problems and mine was a drop in replacement but not all go that way.
