Didn't sell much this weekend but this, among others, walked in. This S prefix from ~1964 was wearing some beautiful cokes. Essentially I got the cokes really cheap and the gun for free. I put some Kim Ahrends targets on it until some pre-68 diamond targets come along. The cokes need a little Ren Wax but are stunning the way they are now and the Highway Patrolman is just about flawless, the exception being the trigger shoe. The deal of the century. I'm almost feeling guilty.

It happens sometimes. I bought a 1950 44 Target with cokes this week too, although the gun is a little scratched up. I don't think I got "the deal of the century" though. Congrats on a nice 28-2 and a great set of "cokes."

You too?
I picked this 28-2 up years ago. It was wearing Pachmayrs when I bought it. As I was leaving, the guy asked if I was interested in some take off stocks. I said sure… the cokes turned a decent deal into a sweet one.

Nice score!

Many years ago (probably about 30 or so) I bought a 5 screw pre 29 in about 96+% condition. I paid $750 for it. That was top dollar then.
Just a hint of holster wear, minor turn line, a few very minor handling scratches, and sad to say, aftermarket grips. No case, no tools, nothing....I bought it as a shooter and shoot it I do. Cast lead 44 spl and cast 44 mag (Hensley & Gibbs #503) mid range only and occasionally full house 240gr JHP's.
I was always troubled by the fact that the gun was not right, and not all original. I told myself I would find a set of cokes eventually. Well I lost a $450 bid on one set about 7 or 8 years ago and I said I would not let that happen again. So up comes a pristine set about a year ago and I would not be denied.
True to my word, I paid $675 for the set and they were, in fact, pristine. Not a mark on them.
Maybe some day I will get a case and tools....but I don't have the same urge as i did with getting the cokes.
Now all is right with the world. I have the gun I always wanted - and it is right.
