Target trigger to a combat

Hi guy's just wondering is it possible to file the grooves of a target trigger and make it smooth and rounded trigger without removing it from the gun?I have a mod.36 shooter grade that bites my finger. Thought I would use a rat tail file and round it out.Stupid or plausible? Any comments or advice would be welcome,thanks a lot.

I've had three striated triggers polished smooth and radiused. I didn't try to do it myself, as I have the mechanical skills of a wombat. It's not an expensive job for a smith.

I much prefer a smooth, radiused trigger face.

I would suggest a Dremel with soft abrasive wheel over a file. I think you'd have better control over the amount of metal being removed.

Don't modify it while it's in the gun. Too much chance of screwing up the blue finish if the Dremel slips.

If you really want to do this, mask off the area around the trigger, use a 1/2 round file take your time checking often to make sure you are maintaining the profile you want.

Not to be a smart ars, but Don't forget to unload the revolver first.

Pretty simple task if you go slow and easy, especially the first time.
Definitely remove from gun though even if you have to ask for help.
Otherwise you may want to have someone else do it.

The casehardened surface is harder than that of a file, so you'll quickly dull its teeth and make the job much harder. Better to use a Dremel tool with abrasives or even hand stones or abrasive paper. And yes, remove it from the gun.

I have a 25-5 that I wanted a "double action" trigger on, and had Pinnacle round-narrow, and smooth the target trigger. I like mine that way.

Thank you everyone it was easier than I thought.I just had to file off the sharp edges so it feels a lot better.Thanks again.ps yes I removed the bullets.
