"Target trigger" on a revolver usually means a wide trigger with grooves in it, which was designed for single-action firing. That is NOT what is needed for IDPA, which is nearly all double-action rapid fire. I don't mind a wider trigger, but it MUST be smooth for me in rapid double-action firing.
If you have an SSR 686, the only modification I would consider is putting on an FO front sight (which just snaps in).
By the way, "Class" in IDPA is how well you shoot the classifier. You will be shooting in IDPA Revolver "Division", and you seriously need to read the equipment rules for IDPA revolver before considering ANY modification.
As always, I recommend going to your local IDPA club and shooting a few local matches with stock equipment before making any decisions on equipment purchases or modifications.
