I know, it is the "T" word... (if you like to kick dogs and take candy from children just go away... ok.. )

Now onto those that have one or are thinking about getting one...
The magic trick... I was on another forum and someone said Sig P226 mags work in the PT111 G2...??? well I had to get mine out and see... sure enough the mag seats and locks in place... and cycles ammo manually... the slide hold open catch does not engage... but that was crazy... they suggested other magazines as well, but that is the one I had... will see if it works at the range when it warms up...

Thank you very much. That is very interesting information, I´ll pass it to my father in law who owns one and uses as his CCG. So far 800 + rounds and no failure. Great gun for the money.

I had one. Then the trigger safety fell out........then the mag release fell out. Then Taurus took 3 months to even acknowledge its arrival........then my neighbor's trigger safety fell out.

Traded it towards my 2.0 FDE for $95. They are junk and dont hold their value at all. No more Taurus **** for me.

I just bought my second PT111 G2 today. The last one had ~450 rounds without a single problem, and that was several different ammos including 2-3 different JHPs. A buddy wanted the first one I had, so I sold it to him. But today I stumbled on a local price that competed with online prices and figured what the heck.

I plan to play with this one. I'm going to see if I can remove the safety and convert it to DAO without resorting to s grinder. Then I'm gonna run it and see how it holds up.

Does that mean I can't sell mine for the $200 I paid for it new? BTW mine works just fine and so does my other Taurus. In fact the other one is a fantastic gun. Completely reliable so far (though about 5000 rounds) and crazy accurate. I think I'll keep it. I was looking for a Glock when I bought it but a LGS owner convinced me to try the other one (which I bought first) by giving me a 30 day no questions asked return policy. I knew the first day I'd be keeping that pistol. Too accurate to let go and recoil is such that I can draw, put 11 rounds in a 8" target at 20 yards and do it in 10 seconds. I'm no Bob Munden either. That gun just sits on the target shot after shot. I only shot 11 times because that's all it holds but that's .45 ACP in a pistol I can hide in my hand. It's almost a perfect carry pistol IMO except for the fact "some" had issues firing when dropped even when the safety is on. Mine was dropped more than once on concrete and didn't fire. I leave it by the place I sleep anyway since I carry a gun with more capacity in .40 caliber. BTW I didn't buy a Glock because none of them fit my hand right. I had the money in my pocket to get one but I paid about half the price of a Glock for the gun that replaced my Sig P220 as my CCW gun.

I have a gen 1 that works great and is built solid. Very high quality gun without any of the supposed issues. Although I will lose money if I sell it, that's the bad thing about "cheap" guns. You better be buying them for utility/duty use in order to get your money out of them, because you won't get it by selling.

A few years ago, Taurus was offering a rebate special on the PT111 G2 and I bought two of them, despite my prior bad experiences with Taurus handguns. I bought them through Gun Genie, so I wouldn't have to depend on Taurus service. I liked them, the price was certainly right, and I didn't have any problems with them (other than one mag that wouldn't drop free, which Taurus replaced.) I ended up selling them to a LEO friend of mine who was looking for an off-duty gun for him and his wife. He still has them and likes them.

It's a shame that Taurus' service is so inconsistent and frankly bad at times. I just don't feel comfortable owning one of their guns. With S&W and Ruger, if you do have a problem, you can count on them to resolve it quickly and correctly.

Mention “T” and it always brings the haters out.
Always goes something like this:
“T” oh my:o! I have a friend who had a second cousin who had a friend who had one. The first time he fired it, the slide flew off the thing and killed a neighbors cat. He put the slide back on and fired it again and the frame cracked and the trigger and magazine fell out. Hit him south of his belt. Doc says that he won’t be fathering more kids. He sent it back to “T” two years ago and no one will talk to him about it. Just awful! Not to worry because he has already bought a new Hi-Point. His friends don’t let friends by a “T”. :p
