Four months ago I sent in a Taurus Raging Bull that has some issues. They haven't sent it back and haven't gotten the part they need to fix it from the factory in Brazil. They offered me another firearm from their current catalog as a replacement. I am looking at the Raging Hunter in 460S&W or 44-Magnum. As you all likely know, 460S&W isn't easy or cheap to come by and 44-magnum is more easily gotten and cheaper. I have other 44-magnum revolvers and the 460S&W has the advantage of firing five and possibly six calibers (460S&W, 454 Casull, 45 Long Colt, 45 Schofield, 45 Cowboy Special). I haven't been able to determine if you can fire 45ACP with moon clips but I'm looking into it. The 44-magnum fires of course 44-magnum and 44-special. Given this choice, what would you select and why? Thanks for your input.

To me it would depend on how many guns I have. If just a few then the 44 magnum, but you seem to have the 44 mag already covered so I think it would be fun to have one of those versatile cannons. I would pick the 460.

I'd go with the .460. I like the multiple caliber options for it. Plus you're hitting 2800 ft. lbs of energy out of the .460 and 2000 ft. lbs. of energy out of the .454 Casull. Way more than the .44 Magnums which you say you already have but that's just me. With ammo availability the way it is as well as the crazy prices you may want to stick with the .44 and not have to deal with other calibers. That's a choice for you to make.
I picked up a new Taurus Raging Judge 513 - 3 inch at a crazy low price last year just for the novelty of it. 3 inch .410 shotgun shells, .45 LC and .454 Casull will feed it. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet as I had a medical incident that put me in the hospital for 23 days and I'm just getting my strength back.
I hope to take it out soon.

By the way, you didn't mention what caliber the gun was that you sent back to Taurus.

Raging Judge(R) 513 45 Colt / 454 Casull / 410 GA Matte Stainless 3 in.

It was a Raging Bull 44-magnum 8". Cylinder had a problem locking up. I collect vintage firearms and was disappointed with what happened with Taurus. I intend to likely get the 460 and try it. If I dislike it, I can sell it at the numerous local gunshows and get another Raging Bull from the second-hand market. I have a preference for 44-magnum classic revolvers as evident by the S&W 29-2 and 1970's Colt Anaconda I have. I like Taurus Raging Bulls insomuch as they are iconic. I've owned a number of Taurus revolvers, the 44 Raging Bull 8" was the first that ever monkeyed up on me.

The Judge series of revolvers are really cool, but I consider them working man's guns. Guys that work remotely in the field on power, gas, and telecommunication lines. They never know what they'll run across from a rattlesnake, to an angry wild pig, to a rabid coyote. Three rat-shot and two slugs will usually fill the bill.

The Raging Judge is a 61 oz., 6 round beast that would be a nice handgun to carry in a chest holster in bear country with 6 rds. of .454 Casull. I refer to it as my Hellboy revolver. It's huge. Here's a pic of it with my 310 Night Guard which is a 2 3/4" N frame.
