Taurus revolver question

I have a Taurus Model 83 which is a 4" .38 Special with adjustable sights. It would be wonderful if it didn't have oversized throats. It's accurate enough for basic defense but I always hope for something better. Other than that the quality is there but it's a bit older.

As long as you know the basic ways to check-out a revolver, you'll be fine. Check the timing with and w/o applying some drag. Check the flash-gap on each chamber. Push-off? Etc etc.

My 856 Executive Grade has been pretty impressive for the price. The trigger isn't as nice as a comparable S&W, but fit and finish are good, no lock, and I'm sure a revised spring set would help. 300+ rounds through so far with no hiccups.

Taurus is out there pushing the envelope for quality and value. Love my older Smiths but I don’t see the brand trying nearly as hard as Taurus to innovate and serve their customers.

Just my opinion.

Heck of a nice revolver at a fraction of the Smith price.
